Most of the Celestron rasa problems are regarding components and measurement. Firstly, you may inspect a shortage of light in the Celestron rasa. Secondly, tilting issues of the telescope may occur; which can affect the images. Finally, errors with the lens may give rise to unwanted reflections inside the scope.

Celestron Rasa Problems: 3 Problems and its Fixes
Let’s face it. The image that forms on Celestron Rasa is phenomenal.
Celestron rasa is a lineup of telescopes that are powerful and awesome. However, it can run into quite a lot of problems.
Poor mechanics and different reasons combined can cause many Celestron rasa issues. It can be really frustrating to experience focal, adjustment, and other problems on a telescope!
I’ve elaborated on 3 problems of the Celestron rasa. Accordingly, you can find the fix as well. Catch a glimpse of it below.
Problem 1: Low Light
The low lighting conditions inside the Celestron rasa are a well-known problem. This issue with light deficiency is more common in Celestron rasa 8. You must know that seeing black through telescopes is not natural at all!
This problem can deduct many situations where you could use the telescope. For instance, the performance of Rasa 8 on cloudy nights could be a whole lot better.
This problem arises mainly because of the camera. The position of the camera is directly in front of the aperture.
This optical design may be powerful, but it’s poorly designed! So, naturally, it reduces light inside the telescope.

Don’t get too stressed though! This problem has a solution that can be easily followed. I’ve discussed exactly that in the next segment. Read it to fix the light problem of the Celestron!
Solution:
Follow the steps below to fix the lighting issues inside Celestron rasa telescopes-
- Firstly, adjust your Cestron during the daytime. Adjust the focus and the position when there’s enough light outside.
Adjustments during the nighttime can be misleading. This misadjustment can easily be the reason for the light insufficiency! - Secondly, you can get a wider slit to increase the flux. It’s a common remedy for low light!
Flux is basically the number of photons (light) that your telescope can absorb. So, getting a bigger slit can increase the light and quality of the photos!
For reference, doubling the slit size can be 4X the amount of light! It’s a really good option for the rasa 8.
The Celestron rasa 8 focal length is a whopping 400mm. And the F/2.0 focal ratio is obtained by the prime focus focal plane position. So more light will maximize its potential!
However, slitless telescopes cannot be attached with slits to increase the light though!
- Finally, try to reduce the area for your image. The more area you’re capturing, the more the flux will spread. So technically, the smaller image you capture, the more brightness you can obtain!
When taking small pictures, the positioning needs to be emphasized. Adjust the focal points and positions of the Celestron rasa perfectly!
Also, If you have a finderscope, you can consider upgrading the Celestron finderscope in order to get rid of this problem.

Remember that, you should also know how to look through a Celestron telescope. Incorrect placing your vision may reduce the light coming through your pupils. In turn, it’ll make it look like there’s low light.
Problem 2: Tilting Issues
Tilting problems are one of the most annoying problems that can occur on a telescope. Quite inconveniently, this is one of the problems with the Celestron rasa as well.
The problem with tilting happens when a component is not sharing the same plane with other components. That’s when you’ll find the balance of the Celestron telescope not working.
Even if you get the focus right, you may see some elongations in the image. The star test of the telescope may be off-centre.
The shadow of the secondary mirror will also be out of place. So it’s nearly impossible to take a perfect picture with an existing tilt issue!

Solution:
Here is how to solve tilting issues of the Celestron rasa-
- First of all, you need to adjust the adjustment screws properly. This is a must in general. Over time the screws can get a bit loose which may cause the tilt.
- Secondly, adjust the tilt plate; if the Celestron model has one. A slight adjustment may just fix the issues!
Along with adjusting the tilt plate, try increasing the space between the sensor and the flattener. Tight spaces always create problems in astrography telescopes; no matter what! - Finally, try collimating the telescope. Although the Celestron is built very tightly; it’s possible to collimate it.
- To determine the tilting calculations, ASTAP calculates the HFD (Half Flux Diameter) of stars. Collimating will improve this calculation if it was miscalibrated in any way.
Problem 3: Rainbows/Reflections inside the Scope
This one is a common one among the Celestron rasa 11 problems. The reason behind this problem is. The bright stars emit a high level of light source, which gets reflected inside the telescopes.

Now you may think that rainbows can actually make the sight and images more colourful. However, seeing the rainbows and reflections is not normal for the Celestron rasa.
But hey, don’t sweat it. I’ve given the solutions to this problem below. Please check it out to solve the issue!
Solution:
Here are the steps to remove the reflections from the telescope-
- Firstly, remove the dew shields and filters and test the telescope. The extra components you attach to the scope may be the reason.
Additionally, remove the light pollution. It will surely help if the light source is only the stars.
As for external sources, there might be something shiny that’s hindering the optical path of the telescopes. Double-check the telescope’s optical path to get rid of them.
- Secondly, try flocking the internal side of the telescope. In order to do that, get some flocking paper. Cut portions of the paper that can be fitted from the filter holder to the thread.
But remember that not all flocking papers are appropriate for this. From my experience, I’ve found that the Uxcell Flocking Paper and Liyafy Sandpaper work the best.
Roll the paper up and stick it to the adapters. It’ll cover the entire image path and help emit the reflections!
- Finally, you can try and paint the inside portion of the adapters. The paint has to be non-reflective. If you use matt black paint, it can reduce the reflections.
If the Celestron still doesn’t get fixed, there might be problems with the corrective lens system.
